Jason Holmes, a Mercer native, built a 14x28-foot raft and floated it from the St. Croix River in Minnesota down to the bayou near New Orleans in the summer of 2000.  Come join us as this 20th century Huck Finn adventurer retells the storeis of crossing locks, surviving the intense summer heat, meeting unique river characters, and near death experiences with giant barges as he traveled down the mighty Mississippi.  Start your night with complimentary appetizers, a cash bar and mingling prior to the evening's program.  Held at the Manitowish Waters Community Center (Hwy. 51 and Airport Road).  $12/Discovery Center member; $15/non-member.  www.discoverycenter.net
