Manitowish Waters Chamber Of Commerce

The Great Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail - Lake Superior/Northwoods region features 18 Northern Wisconsin counties and 88 waypoints for birding & wildlife watching.  The North Lakeland Discovery Center and the Powell Marsh Wildlife Area were selected as two excellent birding sites along the Lake Superior/Northwoods region of this trail. 

The trail officially kicked off its opening in January 2004. The WI DNR Endangered Resource Program has completed a total of five highway-based viewing guides featuring exceptional birding & wildlife watching sites. As of 8/2010, only limited quantities of the Central Sands and Southern Savanna editions were available (order through the WI Dept. of Tourism); all others are out of print.
